PUBLIC NOTICE: WATER USE ACTIVITIES IN GHANA

The Water Resources Commission (the Commission) wishes to bring to the notice of the general public, the obligations under Water Resources Act, (1996) (Act 522), and the Water Use Regulations, (2001), L.I. 1692.

By these laws and regulations, individuals and companies who use water on commercial basis (in the following categories – mining, industrial, water supply, irrigation, fishing farming, recreation, navigation, hydropower, underwater wood harvesting, dredging, spilling, diversion, damming and construction) are required to obtain a Water Use Permit.  

Non-compliance with these laws and regulations is an offence subject to prosecution under section 13 of Act 522.
